By then the photos are buried in your gallery. QC Field turns every job into a time-stamped, tamper-evident record. Yours.
A line on your statement says "incomplete" and takes back money you already spent. No job number, no photo, no address. Which job? You finished all of them.
"Send me a picture of the tap." You scroll past 400 photos looking for one gray box on a pole, from a job three weeks ago. You guess. You send three.
Gate locked, customer not home, dog in the yard. You marked it not done. Two weeks later it's your word against a spreadsheet.
Same problem every time: the work happened, and there's no record of it that anybody trusts. QC Field is that record. You shoot each stage of the job in the app, every photo comes out stamped with the date, time, address, your tech number, the job number and a fingerprint that lets you check later whether a copy was altered. One tap sends the report. The file stays on your phone. When someone asks, you pull it up.
Tap, signal reading, drop route, housebox, connector, panel, CPE, SCOPE active. Shot with the in-app camera, each photo lands in its slot, stamped, in the job it belongs to.
QC and Drop Ready reports built from your photos and job info, emailed to the company in one tap.
Screenshot the work order and open it in QC Field. It reads the job number and address off the screenshot so you don't retype them.
Rescues and change-of-service jobs get their own flow. Same stamp, same report.
Customer not home, no access, weather. Mark it, add the reason, shoot proof photos, send the not-done report the same way you send everything else.
Pay codes per job, daily and weekly totals, a calendar with mileage between jobs, and a 1099 expense log with receipt photos and a year-end CSV.
Every photo you take in QC Field gets three lines written onto the image itself:
Date and time, the job address, your tech number, the job number, and an evidence code.
When the photo is saved, QC Field takes a SHA-256 fingerprint of the original photo together with those details and writes it to an evidence ledger on your phone. The code comes from that fingerprint. Change one pixel, crop it, run it through a filter, and the fingerprint no longer matches.
A running log on your phone of every evidence photo: when, which job, which address, which tech. It stays on your phone, in your hands.
Open the Verify evidence tool in Settings and pick any file — from your phone, from a sent email, from wherever it ended up. QC Field checks it against the ledger and tells you one of two things: VERIFIED — it matches the photo the app recorded — or NO MATCH — the file was edited, re-saved or recompressed since it left the app.
Email attachments arrive intact and verify. Messaging apps recompress images, so a photo forwarded through a chat app will show NO MATCH even if nobody touched it on purpose. When it matters, send the original by email.
QC Field doesn't decide disputes; people do. It doesn't promise how a company will respond, and it doesn't make chargebacks go away. What it gives you is the original photo with the time, the address and the job on it, and a way to show it hasn't been touched. That's more than most techs have when the deduction shows up.
The one your teammate sent you, or qcfield.com. If your company phone has a work profile, use the Chrome inside the work profile — that's where your work-order screenshots live, and the app needs to be on the same side to see them.
Or the three dots → "Add to Home screen". It goes on your home screen like any other app. No Play Store, nothing to sideload.
Set your tech number. If your crew already uses QC Field, paste the team code they send you and the pay rates and email lists fill themselves in.
iPhone: Android first. Not tested on iPhone yet. Ask us if you need it.
Access is by activation code right now. Fill this in and we'll send you your code. It's one guy sending them, so give it a little time. No charge during early access. When pricing is set, you'll hear about it inside the app before anything changes.
I'm a fiber tech in Tampa Bay. I work 1099 like most of the people who'll read this.
I built QC Field after getting deductions weeks after the work with no itemization and no way to answer them, after being asked for a picture of a tap I knew I took and couldn't find, and after typing the same work order into the same email for the hundredth time at 7 pm.
Every feature in here exists because I needed it on a job. It runs on my phone on every job I do. If something's broken or missing, tell me — that's how it got built.
This isn't a company product. It's a tool from one tech to another.
Pricing isn't set yet. Expect somewhere around $10 to $15 a month. Right now access is by activation code and there's no charge. You'll be told inside the app before anything changes, and nobody gets billed without agreeing to it first.
They stay on your phone. Nothing leaves it unless you send a report, and then it goes to the email addresses you chose. The app keeps a mirror copy on the phone and lets you download a full backup. On its own, the app only checks your activation code, picks up team messages and sends a small storage-health log with counts and no job data in it (you can turn the log off). Features you turn on use the internet too: Radio clips are kept on our server for 30 days, the mileage estimate looks up a job's street address, dictation audio goes to Google, and map pictures come from Esri. Your photos, notes and pay never reach us. Details in Terms & Privacy.
Yes. Photos, stamps, jobs, reports and the tracker work offline. Reports send when you have signal again. Radio, dictation, map pictures and the first read of a work-order screenshot need signal.
No. Reports arrive as normal emails with photos attached. Nobody at the company installs anything. QC Field is independent — not affiliated with any ISP, contractor or work-order system.
Yes. Once your pay rates and email lists are set, the app gives you one code. Send it to the crew, they paste it in, and they're set up in a minute. Each tech keeps their own tech number, jobs and photos.
Install it in the Chrome inside your work profile. It's a website, so it installs without the Play Store, and it can see your work-order screenshots from the same profile. Use the app's built-in camera. Data doesn't cross between work and personal profiles, so keep everything in one. Download a backup from Settings now and then.
